Oscar Season Prediction Draft – Rules
Each player drafts 7 movies. You can drop a title and replace it with another available, unclaimed title, but this option can only be exercised once during the season. You can trade with the other player as much as you like.
The Precursor Awards
The precursor awards we consider are:
- Golden Globes
- BAFTA
- SAG
- PGA
- DGA
- WGA
How Precursor Awards Are Scored
- Best Picture or Equivalent (Best Musical/Comedy and Best Drama both count equally for the Golden Globes; Best Ensemble Cast is considered an equivalent for SAG): 4 points for a nomination, 8 points for a win.
- For all other categories: 2 points for a nomination, 4 points for a win.
How the Oscars Are Scored
Hollywood's Biggest Night
Best Picture:8 points for a nomination, 20 points for a win
Director:7 points for a nomination, 12 points for a win
Acting:6 points for a nomination, 10 points for a win
Screenplay:5 points for a nomination, 8 points for a win
Crafts:3 points for a nomination, 6 points for a win
Bonuses
- If one of your last-round picks gets any Oscar nomination, that's a little +2 "value pick" bonus.
- If an animated movie breaks out and gets a nomination outside its usual category at the Oscars, that's +3 per breakout nomination.
- If an international movie breaks out and gets a nomination outside its usual category at the Oscars, that's +1 per breakout nomination.
Actor Bonus
Each player gets to draft one male actor and one female actor. No distinction in value is made between leading and supporting.
- For precursors: 2 points for a nomination, 4 points for a win. (SAG ensemble award counts if they're in the movie)
- For Oscars: 3 points for a nomination, 6 points for a win.
